An article by ABC15 titled, "
Gov. Ducey Announces Free Vaccines, Additional Funding for Hospitals in Press Briefing Wednesday" outlined the most important measures that Arizona Governor Doug Ducey plans on implementing to counter the spread of COVID-19.
In response to numerous calls requesting an improvement to the safety regulations in place, Governor Doug Ducey held a press briefing on December 2nd to announce a new plan that will hopefully support hospitals and commercial businesses in their fight against the virus.
Some of the article's highlights include:
- Additional Hospital Funding: With $60 million dedicated to additional staffing to increase hospital capacity.
- Vaccine Distribution: A shipment is scheduled to reach Arizona between mid to late December. The plan would offer free vaccines to all citizens while making health care workers, educators, residents of long-term care facilities, and vulnerable populations the main priority.
- Support for Restaurants: Destined to implement stricter sanitization measures that would allow the safe expansion of outdoor dining options.
- Regulations for Public Events: Measures will take place to ensure the appropriate health standards are met once the events have been approved by local cities, towns and counties.
While health officials requested enhanced mitigation measures, this plan encourages the expansion of outdoor capacity in accordance with the appropriate safety protocols.
