COVID-19 Cases Continue to Drop in ArizonaA KTAR article titled "Arizona Reports 638 New COVID-19 Cases, No Additional Deaths Monday" reports that Arizona saw its fifth consecutive Monday with zero deaths reported and the third day in a row with fewer than 1,000 new cases. Key metrics used to measure the state's pandemic response continue to improve and reveals that nearly a quarter of Arizona's population has received at least the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

911 combined cases were reported over the weekend, which was the first time since October 4th-5th where fewer than 1,000 cases were reported over a two-day period. The state's hospital saw a decrease in the number of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients to 716, which was the fewest since October 17th, and a reduction in the number of ICU beds used to 210, the fewest since October 30th. An indicator showing how much the virus is spreading on a weekly basis reveals that Arizona's weekly percent positivity for COVID-19 testing is at a five-month low. Out of the 63,308 people who got tested last week, only 5% received a positive test, the lowest percentage since October.

Testing is available at hundreds of locations across the state. Those experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms or who may have been exposed to a COVID positive person are urged to take a test. Please visit the Department of Health Services' website for more information on locations, scheduling, registration, vaccine eligibility.
